SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS and SUPPORTED PROTOCOLS

NetStream Hosted Exchange Mail services require the following minimum resources from our customers:

  • An Internet connection with sufficient bandwidth and quality for both browser access to the Internet and trouble-free uploading and downloading. (Internet explorer, DSL, CABLE, T1, etc. A dial-up connection is not usually sufficient.)
  • A fully functioning Internet browser (updated regularly).
  • Microsoft Outlook (2003/2007/2010) for direct (MAPI) connections to the Exchange Server (MS Outlook is provided free once you subscribe to NetStream Standard Plus service).
  • If you do not wish to use our free download of Microsoft Outlook (full version with subscription), you may use your own licensed version of Outlook 2003/2007/2010, MS Outlook Express 5/6 for POP3/IMAP connections to the Exchange Server or other client software capable of supporting POP3 or IMAP.

Protocols Supported with your NetStream Exchange Mail Account:

POP3, IMAP, SMTP, Outlook Anywhere formerly (RPC over HTTPS)
Outlook Anywhere is an encrypted connection mode (with 128bits encryption) that allows your Outlook to act as if NetStream's Exchange servers were located on your local network.
The classic POP3 and IMAP protocols are also available.

NOTE: the use of Outlook Anywhere requires Windows XP or later.

Classic POP3 Email Client
Commonly used by business users and email client software, POP3 and IMAP4 have long been the industry standards for email access protocols. With NetStream Exchange mail services, you can mix and match to provide one or both access methods to different users in your organization, depending on their individual email needs.

Provide any number of your email accounts access to the software of your choice using POP3 and IMAP4. You can also use NetStream Outlook Web Access (OWA) webmail as an additional access method, allowing users to check email anytime, anywhere, using a standard web-browser.

Outlook Web Access (OWA)
With Office Outlook Web Access (OWA), you can use a Web browser to access your Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox from any computer with an Internet connection. You can use Outlook Web Access with Microsoft Internet Explorer or many other browsers for Linux, Apple Macintosh, or computers running Microsoft Windows. Outlook Web Access is an effective solution for people who require roaming, remote access, or cross-platform functionality.
